Feature Request

Post all features you would like to see in future updates!
Those with lots of votes will get looked at first

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

    • Add support for custom mount points and possible usb support.

Patch boot script in order to allow any user to have custom mounts on linux.
This feature is not properly implemented on the boot script.
Usb support could be handy for tablet users, such as me, that have usb host ports on them.
Being able to use those usb ports with linux is of high importance for embedded projects.

If you reboot your phone, and then go to terminal, you can resize your "ubuntu.img" before you boot it, making more/less space available for Ubuntu:

        su <press return>
        cd /sdcard/ubuntu <press return>
        e2fsck -fp ubuntu.img <press return>
        resize2fs ubuntu.img 3500M <press return>
        e2fsck -fp ubuntu.img <press return>

... is what I did. Step 1 does a filesystem check (forced) and the "p" option means "prune", whereby it fixes filesystem errors. The next step resizes my "ubuntu.img" to 3.5Gb (3,500Mb) and the final step does a filesystem check, once more.

            • alsa support

Tried getting alsa support by using alsa mixer d/l but project looks dead and didnt include module download anymore.

Can modules from android os be reused? Prolly not but what if u ported pulseaudio to android and ran client inside each distro pointing to local network?

                    • e2fsck during launch script

Include an e2fsck binary in your app and as a part of your ubuntu.sh script run "e2fsck -p ubuntu.img", if the exit code != 0 warn the user and abort the script.

                      • Native use of the Ubuntu GUI without VNC

I know this is already on your radar, but thought I'd add the request to see how it ranks. Personally I'd be fine with just native LXDE support, but I'm sure there are those out there that would want Unity( yuck imho ) or Gnome 3 support.

                        • Ability to transfer personal settings when changing to new Linux img file

It would be nice to have an "Auto migrate settings" option when switching from one Linux img to another updated img( of the same Linux distro ) or the ability to copy settings from one img to another by pointing to the destination img file then the target img file and settings would be ported.

Settings should include, at the very least, anything under the /home directory. And icing on the cake would be to detect other custom setups like /etc/ changes you've made( think init.d changes, or host file, or /etc/profile changes ) and the "Candles on the cake"…
